From acclaimed company One Fell Swoop Circus (By A Thread) comes In Common - a thrilling fusion of circus and sculpture.

☆ “An intricate and mesmerising piece of art” – ArtsHub

Event Description

A thrilling new work by One Fell Swoop Circus, In Common sees a seemingly impossible ‘tensegrity’ sculpture brought to life by the company’s signature style of acrobatics – heartfelt, powerful, and intimate.

This 60-minute piece combines circus and sculpture as eight acrobats build a unique rigging apparatus on stage and perform breathtaking acrobatics on and around it. Virtuosic acrobatics and intricate choreography guide audiences through a visceral understanding of the care we owe others in our community and the safety nets we collectively weave.

An exploration of tension both structural and relational, In Common lets you experience the joy of throwing yourself into someone's arms and the warm weight of bearing them.

A beautiful, innovative example of where contemporary circus can go!

“The risks they took were in the stunts, as well as in their storytelling.” – Australian Arts Review

Presented by: Frankston Arts Centre and One Fell Swoop Circus as part of Season 2026

One Fell Swoop uncover the intrinsic metaphor within circus to create stark yet beautiful audience experiences. Based in Melbourne, the company combines ambitious concepts with visceral physicality, bringing audiences the invigorating mix of joy and risk inherent to group acrobatics.

By building innovative apparatus and developing new acrobatic techniques OFSC bring audiences an appreciation of the rich semantic web of how circus relates to life: tipping points, tension and forces, and the precariousness of moving through turbulence.

One Fell Swoop combines a high level of circus skill with rich dramatic perspectives, specialising in traditional theatre shows and large-scale outdoor circus installation works. The company connects a highly skilled ensemble with innovative apparatus, where classic techniques are used in expansive ways and new ideas are made possible.
