Matthew Delaney

Mad Dog Art
Matthew Delaney was born in Katoomba in New South Wales on Wiradjuri Country and lives and works in Frankston.
“When I was young, I struggled growing up due to the racism which was around me. My mental health has suffered due to this and other reasons, and it is a daily struggle for me. Being Aboriginal is a lifestyle which we live. We must walk lightly, and we belong to the Country. For me this is a deep meaning. When I do my art, it is my expression of my culture. It keeps me calm and if anyone likes my art, this is a bonus. I refer to my art as Mad Dog Art.”
Matthew’s artwork reflects landscapes and aboriginal traditions that honour the teachings passed down through family while also tapping into universal symbols and his own spiritual views and learning.
