Somewhereville: Home is where the art is…

Somewhereville is a suburb of uniqueness, imagination, and vibrant present energy. It’s a place where what was once discarded is transformed into homes—living sculptures built from reclaimed materials, standing as joyful proof of community spirit. A village built on inclusion, creativity, and cultural celebration, Somewhereville is alive with randomness, colour, and fun. It’s visual storytelling at its most heartfelt—a place where art is home.

About the Project

The houses of Somewhereville were created through a series of workshops held across the Frankston community, with participation from organisations such as Headspace, Windana, Mentis Assist, Cube37, Orwil Street Community House, Frankston South Community Centre, and the Community Care Unit among others.

Participants ranged from ages 4 to 84, each bringing their own creativity and unique vision to life. These miniature dream houses offer a window into the vibrant imagination of Frankston’s diverse community. The project was facilitated and installed by artist and art therapist Tina Strafford, who guided the community in building this shared artistic landscape — a whimsical town born from collective dreams and collaboration.
