We're about to make a Grand Entrance
Published on 18 March 2025
In 2025, we’re thrilled to embark on a transformative redevelopment of the Frankston Arts Centre forecourt—a much-needed refresh for this beloved venue. As a vital cultural asset, ongoing investment ensures the Centre remains safe, accessible, and welcoming while continuing to offer an exceptional visitor experience.
A Vision for the Future
The forecourt transformation—shaped by valuable community feedback—will enhance the safety, accessibility, and overall amenity of the space. As one of Frankston City’s premier arts and culture destinations, these improvements will further cement the Centre’s role as a key attraction for both locals and visitors.
What’s Changing?
Key enhancements that have responded to feedback from public consultation undertaken in 2022.
- Safer pedestrian and vehicle separation
- A new drop off zone
- Safer gradients throughout the precinct
- Improved lighting for security and ambiance
- More seating and landscaping to create a welcoming environment to wait or rest
- Public art installations to celebrate creativity and indigenous Australian culture
- Digital screen advertising upcoming events
- Smoother surfaces which is better for wheelchairs and prams, not to mention hospitality trolleys and grand pianos
What to expect?
During the redevelopment, there will be some temporary disruptions to access; however, Frankston Arts Centre is committed to minimising inconvenience as much as possible. Visitors and pedestrians can expect some changes to entry points and pathways, with clear signage and alternative routes in place to ensure safe access. Regular updates will be provided to ticket-holders and visitors, so you can continue to enjoy the Centre’s events and programs with minimum inconvenience. This page will be updated with any announcements regarding the changes to entrance and drop off areas and any suggestions to navigate access to the centre at this time.
From Monday 7 April, the forecourt driveway will no longer be accessible for vehicles.
Project Timeline
This $2.1 million redevelopment, fully funded by Council, is set to commence in April 2025, with an estimated six-month construction period.
We appreciate your patience during this exciting upgrade and can’t wait to unveil a more vibrant and accessible Frankston Arts Centre forecourt!
