About This Event

The Songs & Times of Sam Cooke – A Change is Gonna Come starring ARIA-award winning and multi-platinum selling recording artist Gary Pinto (CDB) pays homage to one of the most influential songwriters of all time, Sam Cooke.

Revered for hits such as Bring It On Home To Me, Cupid, Twistin’ The Night Away and A Change Is Gonna Come, Sam Cooke has an incredible legacy, still selling US$5 million a year more than five decades after his death.

The show will see Gary and his hand-picked six-piece band The Champions of Soul traverse Sam Cooke’s biggest hits in a special stage show written by acclaimed theatre director Greg Carroll. With a nod to Cooke’s beloved concert at the Harlem Square Club in 1963, this is a rare chance to relive the music that shaped history.

Presented by: Frankston Arts Centre and Sinclair Artists

This show is handpicked to be in the FAC 2019 Season.

"Gary is one of the most soulful singers I have ever heard. He has a voice that can touch the heart of who ever hears him sing. I could not think of a better person to tell the Sam Cooke story. It will be a night of great songs by a great singer. Everyone who works with Gary loves him and his beautiful voice."

Jimmy Barnes

"I’ve had the pleasure of singing with Gary Pinto for 15 years now. I was a fan of his before I started my own career and for good reason. You will struggle to find a more soulful singer in Australia. Technically he is the finest singer I know but it’s the way he bares his soul which is truly captivating."

Guy Sebastian

"If any one artist can do Sam Cooke songbook any justice, it’s Gary Pinto. He’s a vocal force to be reckoned with."
