Local Artist Spotlight: subcult
Saturday 24 October 2020
There’s no holding back Frankston locals subcult.
Thanks to a pop infused garage rock sound, driving power chords, reverb-soaked leads and anthemic lyrics, the band have shared the stage with acts including Ruby Fields, Bakers Eddy and LOSER.
Subcult’s debut single, ‘Suffocating’, touches on the trial of trying to make a relationship work when the other person is half checked out.
This emotional party anthem is a staple of what to expect from subcult - loud riffs and emotional lyrics you can scream your heart out to.
Subcult’s Ben Gorman said the band was rapt to be performing as part of Frankston Art Centre’s livestreamed show.
“We’re stoked to be included on such a stellar local line up at such an iconic venue,” he said.
“It’s an honour for us and we can’t wait to play for you all.”
The band came together via school friendships, holiday program meetings and social media connections.
Whether they’re playing a house show to a group of mates or a sold out venue, subcult always rise to the occasion with heaps of energy.
Subcult performs as part of the ‘And We are LIVE’ show hosted by Frankston Arts Centre on Thursday 29 October from 7.30pm to 8.30pm.
In lieu of ticket sales, your support by donation of whatever you can afford is welcome with 100 per cent of proceeds going to the artists to help them continue to create. Donate to the GoFundMe page here.
