About This Event

Showcasing jazz classics and selections from eclectic and celebrated film scores, Hook Turn Orchestra presents music that sprang to life on the silver screen.

The stunning vocals of musical theatre/TV star Alinta Chidzey (West Side StoryJesus Christ Superstar, Wentworth) are accompanied by an ensemble of Melbourne’s most accomplished jazz musicians and members of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra & Orchestra Victoria.

Melding the worlds of jazz and classical concert halls, this project seeks to reinvent much-loved classics and underappreciated film score masterpieces alike. From Melbourne Recital Centre to Hamer Hall and fresh from their recent album release tour, Jazz and the Silver Screen features evocative music from all continents of the world.

The stunning string quartet is led by violinist Roger Young. All arrangements are by Roger and Dutch jazz saxophonist/multi-instrumentalist, Remco Keijzer. The rhythm section comprises of Australia’s most sought after musicians Sam Keevers on piano, bassist Ben Hanlon and Hugh Harvey on drums.

Here’s your chance to experience this unique concert up close and get your signed copy of Hook Turn Orchestra’s album after the show.
