Wallflowering, by award-winning Australian playwright Peta Murray, introduces us to Peg and Cliff Small, an ordinary, suburban, middle-aged couple, who were once prize-winning ballroom dancers.
This delightfully amusing and poignant story about marriage, happiness and the pursuit of the perfect foxtrot, features action interspersed with projections of world-class ballroom dancing by a younger couple (2015 World Dance Council Champions - Rhett & Emma Salmon), who represent Peg and Cliff in their glory days. Acclaimed actors of both stage and television, Dennis Coad and Jenny Seedsman, are perfectly cast as they waltz and collide through myths, memories and assumptions.
A play for lovers of dance and lovers of love – it is an intoxicating appreciation of a maturing couple realising that falling out of step may help them focus on each other honestly for the first time.
