Event Description

For 25 years Promac Productions has toured Australia with their wonderful and critically acclaimed Gilbert and Sullivan Productions. This year – their silver anniversary tour - will be no exception.

As many already know, Gilbert and Sullivan were the innovators of their time and wrote over eleven hit musicals, some of which ran for over seven hundred performances in their initial seasons! They are timeless classics.

With a great cast, led By Chris McKenna, featuring tenor Roy Best, guest soloist with the Aussie Pops Orchestra, Opera Australia’s Caroline Vercoe, international soprano Alison Jones and virtuoso on the piano William Schmidt.

This production embraces mayhem and madness, with beautiful singing and the odd updated lyrics to some very well-known tunes. You’ll hear the hits and highlights of Pirates, Pinafore and the Mikado as well as some classics from other hit Gilbert & Sullivan Musicals.

Songs such as Poor Wandering One, A Policeman’s Lot is Not a Happy One, When I was A Lad, Three Little Maids from School, A Wandering Minstrel, A Modern Major General, and plenty more.

Amazingly, one of the greatest duets they wrote comes from one of the lesser-known musicals The Gondoliers and that is “Oh Bury Bury” where Sullivan shows us all his true genius in composing music.

This production will be performed in front of a gorgeous full stage backcloth painted by leading stage artists Scenic Studios (Australian Ballet, Phantom of the Opera). It will be fun, fast paced and a musical delight.

Complimentary refreshments are served prior to each performance!
