Men As Role Models at Frankston Arts Centre

Frankston City Council is proud to announce the launch of an exciting new youth mentoring program ‘Men as Role Models.’

Event Description

To promote the ‘Men as Role Models’ program, Frankston City Council invites any community members over the age of 15 who may be interested, to attend an inspiring and funny FREE Community Forum  where special guest speakers will lead a conversation about their experiences of men as role models and the importance of mentoring.

Speakers:
Nathan Burke
Nathan is a St. Kilda Football Club legend and current Head Coach of the Western Bulldogs AFLW team. As a player he was tough but fair, always backing his judgement. Today Nathan shares his knowledge to lead and support others to be their best.

Abbey Newman
Abbey, a social worker is passionate about reaching gender equality for both women and men. Abbey is a stand-up comedian who uses feminist comedy to highlight inappropriate gendered norms and expectations.

Cameron McDonald
Cameron has dedicated his life to trying to figure out what is going on with Aussie masculinities, but the most difficult thing has been to figure out his own ‘maleness’ along the way! He has even tried his hand at some stand-up comedy, poking fun at his own gender.

Paul Zappa
Paul is General Manager of The Men’s Project at Jesuit Social Services. He uses The Modelling of Respect and Equality (MoRE) program sessions to help boys and men embrace healthier expressions of masculinity.

Opportunities to find out more about the program will be offered for people who are interested.
