Local Indigenous artist Ya Ya Dinah discovered her love for art after winning an award as a Grade 7 student in the Katanning Show, WA. Although she enjoyed art it wasn't until much later in her life that she began to take it up as a profession, having moved to Frankston and completing a Certificate II in Aborigianl and Torres Straight Islander Cultural Arts.
As an emerging artist Ya Ya is still developing her style and unique signature, and even though it is a challenge Ya Ya loves expressing her spirituality in her work. Light is a strong influence for her and is the inspiration behind a lot of her works.
Through times of turmoil
and snares, I have embraced
my despairs continually.
Forever I go and forever to
come, Colourful history is
where I came from.
Forgetting the past and embracing
the future to move on in
my life.
Now is the time and hour,
minutes and seconds to
move and keep on moving
forward.
'What!' a 'Colourful History'
YES!!!
