Rebuilding
FAC Gallery - Curved Wall
17 December - 6 February

Monday - Friday 9am-5pm, Saturday 9am-2pm

Rebuilding is the painter’s journey from grief over the death of a loved one to a sense of optimism and renewal as a new family member is born.

"An exhibition of ‘rebuilding’ refers to my personal goal of renewal following the death of a close family member. The art works in this exhibition represent this process; a process that starts very slowly and in small steps, sometimes goes backwards and sometimes forwards. Intrinsic to the exhibition is a sense of optimism that while life will not return to normal for our family (who has experienced profound grief), a ‘new normal’ will emerge and that such a state of being may be okay. In our case  the first member of the next generation was born a couple of days after the death of our loved one, and this new baby has bought joy and laughter to our family.  I hope this is reflected in the last paintings in this exhibition." - Sarah Hawkins
