Silversmith Kate Macindoe collects objects of nature from the beaches of the Mornington Peninsula and turns them into handcrafted, unique, beautiful wearable jewellery.

Kate Macindoe, a Mornington Peninsula silversmith, has spent her life by the beach collecting sea treasures. Studying Visual Art at Monash University, majoring in metals and jewellery, allowed her to learn to transfer her love for nature and the ocean and express this through her pieces. Working with materials such as silver, brass, porcelain and natural found objects, Kate is excited to be able to transform beautiful objects of nature into wearable pieces. Kate is fascinated by the intricate patterns that can be found on sea urchins, shells, leaves and other found objects. Each piece Kate makes is individually made and replicates different beautiful objects that she has collected from the beach. This ensures that no two pieces are the same. The organic appearance of the final piece looks as though it could almost have been found among shells itself. Despite the fragile, natural appearance of the pieces they are strong and comfortable to wear.
