ROTOSCOPE ANIMATION WORKSHOP - Thursday 3 July 10am to 1:30pm (BYO Lunch)
Rotoscoping is used to some extent in almost every major motion picture, “From cleaning up” frames to creating magical animation. The magic of rotoscoping as an animation technique is in its ability to capture the essence of motion. Stripping back the detail, the subtleties of movement emerge.

Participants will be asked to film a few seconds of dynamic movement. This can be a short walk, skipping, drinking from a cup; any simple short action. We will then use  a hand-full of different methods to trace or draw over the video by hand. In this three hour workshop you will produce a very short sequence that can be looped or combined with other footage. The techniques are easily mastered by any one prepared to put in a few hours effort and most of the equipment is readily available at home or through schools etc., so you can use it in future filmmaking and art projects.
